Security Resources (3 Hours)
1. CCTV Operation and Video Documentation (45 minutes)
Teach officers how to effectively use and monitor CCTV systems and ensure proper video documentation. Introduce the types of CCTV systems, including analog and IP cameras, and discuss areas of coverage. Show officers how to adjust camera angles, zoom, and playback functions to monitor and review footage accurately. Explain protocols for documenting incidents using video footage, including labeling footage with dates and times for evidence. Practice using a mock CCTV system, assigning participants to monitor for “suspicious activity” in a controlled setting to enhance observation skills.

Response Protocols: Teach officers the appropriate response steps for each type of alarm, including notifying law enforcement, checking the area, and resetting the alarm. Emphasize clear communication protocols during alarm events to avoid panic or confusion. Participants will conduct a role-play exercise with a simulated alarm scenario to practice response protocols and decision-making.
3. Access Control (30 minutes)
Train officers in managing and monitoring access points effectively. Overview of methods like keycards, PIN codes, biometric scanners, and manual checks. Discuss the importance of granting access based on roles and using visitor logs to track entry and exit. Teach techniques for identifying and preventing tailgating or unauthorized access attempts. Practice access control by assigning roles and setting up a controlled entry point to manage and document visitor access.
4. Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) (30 minutes)
Explain how EAS systems work to prevent theft and assist with loss prevention. Explain the role of tags, sensors, and alarm gates used in retail and other settings. Teach how to respond to EAS alarms, including observing suspicious behavior and checking for concealed items. Teach techniques for addressing EAS alarms professionally to avoid escalation or discomfort. Participants will walk through a scenario where an EAS alarm is triggered, discussing procedures for checking and monitoring without escalating the situation.
5. Working with Law Enforcement (45 minutes)
Equip officers with strategies for effectively collaborating with law enforcement. Discuss the specific roles of security officers and law enforcement, emphasizing boundaries and mutual responsibilities. How to relay critical information (such as descriptions and timelines) to officers to assist with investigations. Protocols for securing crime scenes or safeguarding evidence until law enforcement arrives. Review and Post-Test (1 Hour)
1. Overview of the Class (30 minutes)
Recap the training topics, allowing participants to revisit any key areas or clarify outstanding questions. Briefly summarize each module covered, such as patrol techniques, incident response, customer service, and resource management. Open the floor for questions or review scenarios where participants need further clarification. Gather initial feedback from participants on the training experience, noting areas for improvement or topics they found particularly valuable.
2. Post-Test (30 minutes)
